On 8 November 1951, the Italian city of Ferrara gained a future designer; Michele de Lucchi! After de Lucchi received his degree in architecture from the University of Florence, he started working for well-known names such as Artemide, Olivetti and Alessi.
De Lucchi was from part of the Memphis Group, a well-known group of artists whose founder included Ettore Sottsass. In 1987, this group unfortunately fell apart. A year later, in 1988, de Lucchi was appointed Director of Design for the Italian company Olivetti. Here he worked until 2002.
De Lucchi was also still active as an architect. He designed buildings in Japan, Germany, Switzerland and Italy, among others. In 2015, de Lucchi partnered with the also Italian company Alessi. He designed the Pulcina series; a percolators collection.
